What is a braces to me // Why do I wear braces // Fake braces

I'm using a self ligating braces
It's going to be the second year of me using braces in a few months. Malaysia is a step backward into the trend of using braces a fashion, I suppose. Could be cause we don't really have a culture or event for us to make up and dress up like something else ; Halloween.

Due to the boom of braces, a sum of people use this opportunity to make it a business, especially online because you require less official certificates and stuff (but no more soon!). A fake braces. I will get back to this later, let me finish with my point - what is a braces to me.

Braces is a medical treatment

It's uncomfortable, it induces pain periodically. Alhamdulillah so far I have never been into pain where I am unable to eat, I guess everyone has different threshold for pain, that's why. Mine hasn't reached the threshold yet so it doesn't cause contraction...........nvm. :D

It is a medical treatment to improve my life. I don't deny the fact that I am very grateful for what Allah has given to me, it's just that before I started my orthodontics treatment I encountered some health problems, especially orally, thus I decided to sacrifice four healthy teeth to start the treatment. It varies with everyone, sometime you don't have to extract at all.

It is not something I have fun with. It's not. It's like you injure your leg, and you had to wear the cement or composite, or the metal inserted into your leg, or when you have to be admitted into the hospital. It's not fun!

People frequently ask me, "another how long you have to wear the braces?".

I don't know! It's a treatment process, the Doctor and I can do my best to ensure the process goes accordingly, but who determines the outcome? Allah, the power we believe to ensure the Earth to rotates.

Sometimes when I'm asked such question, the inner rude myself wants to reply with, "why don't you ask Allah yourself? How should I know!". Nahh. I'm teaching myself to be respectful so I don't say it loud, though, I just smile and say I'm not sure.. He he he.. I know they're just being concerned.

Fake braces
"Jangan sampai dah berlaku kematian baru nak ambil tindakan" - Sedutan berita di TV3.
(Yes there has been a death case reported due to fake braces in one of the Asian country, I don't remember)

I have a mixed feeling about this trend. Moreover, I have come across of some online shop who provides dental treatment for minor cases. They are not a dentist, what's more an orthodontist (dentist who is specialized in braces)? Honestly, I don't even agree with people who seek for orthodontics treatment with a dentist without the specialization, and yet people are receiving it from an unqualified person..

Yes, the cost of proper braces costs at least RM 2000. The procedures may seem simple, just having the thing putting on your teeth, and getting the band to tighten it up. It is not actually. The orthodontist will be able to see if you have maybe an ingrown teeth, or maybe you have some other problems, who know? Not to mention about the hygiene. It's about your health your body! Not just teeth. It is indeed a big matter. You wouldn't even get a stitch from a veterinary doctor, would you? You'd still seek for the medical doctor right.

Unless handbags, clothes, those materials, then I have no problem with it. Even make up, I don't encourage people to use the fake ones. Because you're gonna use it on your body. Or phones, anything that I know can affect my health, I wouldn't want others to do it. Please think about it.

I hope the appointment is still on..

Types of Braces

Friday, February 07, 2014
First of all, you must consult your orthodontics (dentist specialized in braces) and seek for advice. They will suggest you many types of braces, don't simple tell them you wanna wear braces. Here are things that you may want to ask :

1. Is there any options other than braces?
2. Do I need to wear braces? Why? (Pronounciation, self-esteem, etc)
3. How is my current oral hygienity without braces?
4. What types of brackets are suitable for me? (Basically about materials, wire and so on. Just ask.)
5. How are you going to "stick" the brackets on my tooth? Is it chemically or physically? (There are types of braces which offer you a "clear" braces using a ceramic, which is rather unnoticeable! However, I read that if we use the ceramic one, they will stick the brackets on our teeth chemically = harder for our orthodontic to remove  = risk for us!)
6. Which treatment offers a better hygienity? Which treatment is easier to clean, which one food sticks more, etc
7. Do I need to extract my teeth? If so, how many? Other way than not to?

So now, moving on the type of treatment. I exclude the ceramic one since I've mentioned a bit earlier.

1. The traditional braces
2. Self-ligating
3. Lingual braces
4. Invisalign
5. Currently popular types like Damon

Research and compare. They are different. I firstly thought Damon was good since my only reference is internet but my orthodontics advised me not to because it's not suitable for my jaws.. Hope this helped. Correct me if anything is wrong.. I'm not a dentist, I'm just a dentist's sister.. Haha..

Braces Pain!

Thursday, February 06, 2014

Ain't she pretty? :D
Anyway I've had my orthodontic's appointment last Monday and got the wire tighten. Before this, two of my front teeth beside canine wasn't "hooked" with the wire because of the position so during this appointment, the doctor "hooked" the wire on the teeth as well since they have moved from the original position.

She has mentioned to me earlier that this time will be a little tighter than before, indeed it is. IS STILL. Ahahaha.. The first two days was a pain. I had my appointment at 9 am and I started to feel the pain around noon. The next morning when I wake up, bvhaekbua! LOL.

To me, it's more like "annoyed" feeling rather than pain. It feels unsual, it's like there's somebody keep on pushing your teeth, how annoying is that?

Starting from the second day, it started to feel numb. Couldn't really feel my front teeth, as though there's no tooth! When I touch it, I can feel my teeth but on my gum, I could barely feel it.

Basically the pain is only on front teeth, starting from canine to the back is fine. I say fine. It is still endurable to chew some soft foods like bread, vegetables, and fish.

On the fourth day (today) I can say it's totally recovered I can almost eat normally. Yeah, almost.

First photo on internet!

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

Tadaa. It's been 9 days so here you go. As you can see there's no elastic bands holding in between my braces. I'm using a self-ligating braces, which also mean I wouldn't need to get my braces tightened. Cause it's already tight.. If in term of pain of each months during tightening, then yes of course it is painless - du-uh obviously there's nothing to be tightened!!

The pain - not really a pain actually, more like an ache. Lasted for a day, I must admit. It was quite hurt but not to the extent that you can't eat anything, though I had porridge and other soft foods like yogurt and oreo dipped in milk (yummy!). Cause I was scared and I feel like my teeth aren't strong enough yet..

I used a lot of wax during the first 3 days.. The ulcer wasn't obvious, just minor one. Not as painful as the normal ulcer.. Haha I expected that kind of pain, but alhamdulillah nothing much. Didn't really bother me.

My next appointment is on February.. Yeay! I hope they will stay painless, normal like this. I have got used to it, I eat almost everything now. The funny thing is I really enjoy brushing my teeth now! LOL mainly because if I don't brush my teeth after meal, I can feel a large size of food stuck somewhere.. And yes, I floss once a day. That's all for now..

Kinda aches..
Stresses me out!
Accidentally meet both of my front tooth and it hurts. Agonize as an adjective is too much. So, just hurt.
Since I really hate taking any medicines, it's not like I doubt the efficiency of those pain killers, the truth is I can't swallow the pills! It's really difficult, I don't know why as I grew up it became so hard to pass through my throat.
So I'll just tuck myself in bed and sleep.......... Hope & pray to be able to sleep or else I'll just stay in front of my laptop. Huhhhhh

今日つけてきました。
もっと早くしたかったけど、
学校や試験でなかなか時間が合わなくて;;

Tooth extraction yeay

Thursday, August 29, 2013
Blood-drool.. Eww did vampire sucked blood from my gum last night!?

It was my first ever experience of "serious" dental treatment. Uwww

I only prayed to Allah to keep me calm in whatever I do if it will bring me closer to Allah, ask for His guidance and alhamdulillah everything went smoothly! Yeay

The needle was a little hurt, it was really minor that I don't consider it as pain. It's like having a fish's bone planted (?) in your gum..if you ever experienced it. BUT the pain with fish's bone remains until you took it off, meanwhile with the anaesthetic purposed needle, the pain will disappear slowly, yeah definitely cause that is what the purpose is. I repeating words.. Nvm. She firstly injected once on both side, later once it has start to working, she injected once again.

She extracted my premolar on the bottom, right side first continued with the above. She explained to me that I will feel some kind of movement, like my teeth is literally being pulled out, but insya Allah there will be no pain. She jokingly asked my brother if he'd like to do, but of course no. My Abang was way more nervous than I was!! Ummi was nervous too. :P Alhamdulillah I was able to keep myself calm.. Or at least to look calm. Hahhahah

My teeth was extracted on around 6 PM, once it (I forgot the word, sorry) is injected, you'll started to feel numb. Do you know what "numb" is? I didn't, and now I know. It felt like the whole part of my right side of mouth is swollen, and when you touch it, you can't feel it.

The moment my tooth is extracted, is almost similar to when you're pulling out a grass. Yes. I heard or feel, maybe a sound. I think so. A sound like something really tiny is tear off. Kind of........

It fell off.

Monday, August 26, 2013
Look at my nice desk!

Yes, the separators did fell off.

I totally forgot about the existence so my brothers and I went out to have Nasi Kandar for our lunch. I took my favorite meat dish, the one in dark black color. Yummy! I'm sure you've eaten meat once right, so you would know there's a part which is a little thick. I bit a piece of the meat like a hungry lion, and the pain rushes through my head. I immediately feel the separator using my tongue, and I knew one of it has dislocated.

But since I'm not a person who really bothers about a little pain, who would care about other things when a delicious meal is right in front of you, waiting to be eaten!? At least I'm not so I continued eating it. Muahahahha other part of the meat is rather soft, so the pain didn't get any worse.

Resistant towards pain.

Wednesday, August 21, 2013
I consider myself as having a difficulty to notice what is a pain.

It's kinda hurt, but I'm not sure if it's normal or it is, indeed a pain.

I won't feel, or even realize that there are foreign material in my mouth until I stop talking. So I talk and talk, just to get my focus away from it. Hihi

According to my description, it feels a little sore, or maybe a tiredness. The tiredness you get after chewing too much.

The pain comes when you eat! This is something a consider as pain. A little pain. Not that hurt (to me), it's just kind of bothering you to eat normally. I'm a big eater compared to normal girls, so I get disturbed when I can't eat with usual speed.

I had pasta for lunch and yoghurt for snack. My family had pizza for dinner so I ate slowly, leaving behind the crust.

Alhamdulillah thank you Allah for providing me enough delicious foods. 😭

So it begins.

Monday, August 19, 2013

Put on a separator today.
Look like this. On four locations, so basically eight separators were used. As you can see, it is placed between the molars, basically to make space before a braces can be attached.
Doesn't hurt much when the Dentist is putting it on, just something sort of like flossing your teeth, just a little thicker.
Obviously it feels like a broccoli stuck between your teeth.
Is it because I'm a little tempered person that makes me feel a little (no, a lot!) annoying?
I really hate it when something is stuck between my teeth, so I'm fighting with myself to stop thinking about it hahahha
Eating? I'm not sure, ate some crackers, Oreos, squids.. Until I figured out that it is advisable to avoid.
Practice normal tooth-care, brush & floss as usual, and it will kinda fall off on its own when there is enough space. And it is totally harmless if accidentally swallowed.

Praying that it won't hurt as bad as the internet describes.. Amiinn..

May Allah ease me to find his Hidayah and that whatever I do will bring me closer to Him. Amin.

Braces.

Friday, January 27, 2012
Had a nightmare last night. Or should I say this morning because if I'm not mistaken I dream of it after I've done my Subuh prayer..

In my dream, i had dream where my brother is extracting my teeth. For real. I still remember, on the right side of the bottom of my tooth. I didn't want it, but my brother insist on doing it because I'm going to put on the braces. I was like, what the hell!? I haven't made up my mind yet and you have already extracted my tooth!?

Then I woke up (in my dream). Felt relieved that it was just a dream, when I got up I can feel that some part of my teeth is hollow! I'm dead. That was real. This is not a dream. Ahhhh. Fine, never mind. It's done anyway. Whether I want it or not, I will still have to. Okay.

I woke up again. On a sofa. It was around 10.30. I immediately checked my mouth! My tooth was still there.. :D Thank God!

Oh I haven't brushed my teeth anyway.

I never understood the difference of teeth, tooth, feet, foot, geese, goose. I know one of it are plural, singular, bla bla bla but I just never could undestand it. HAHA! I don't even remember days in English.. :3 I have to sing, Monday Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday come again.. But I guess I just gotta deal with it, like man and men.. Don't worry.. :D

Braces.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012
Ahhhh. I'm very determined & certain about the pain, and all. It's very okay with me. I personally that kind of person who takes a very good care of my teeth,  so I'm sure I won't have any problem with that. The thing is, I'm gonna have to extract four of my teeth. Four. I'm not scared or what, I just feel kinda lost. I'm gonna lose part of my body which has been with me for 18 years. A totally healthy teeth. I've never had any dental problems, I go on regular dental check-ups.. I've been watching lost of videos on wearing a braces, mostly from Asians, because I wanna know the change which might occur on my face and all. Since my lips are quite filled *hehehehe* I don't think I'll have that weird 1 cm lips like the Westerns do, after wearing braces. -_____- The earlier, the better. The appointment is on this Friday. Another three days. I have another three days to think about it. To think!? I've made up my mind, totally. I'm just gonna miss the teeth.. If it's gonna worth. It will, yes.

For some people, they say it's for beauty. I'm not. I'm putting on braces for health of my gums, my oral. That's all. If it were for beauty, I'm sure it's gonna pretty easy for them, cause "Beauty Knows Pain" is it? Uhhh. I'm not! I'm not crazy about beauty cause I'm beautiful just the way I am. Confidence? I'm made of confidence, pride. I'm totally confidence with myself!

People I'm closed with have been saying to me to just keep the teeth with me everywhere since I'm really gonna feel the lost. I'm sentimental. I've been using the word sentimental a lot these days because of this braces thing. I'm going to make a video diary IF I were to put on.. :/
